So I found this idea of taking an old dresser and turning it into an entertainment center.. Perfect! We had a big, bulky Ikea entertainment center that just didn't work in the new house... Well, we started the hunt for a dresser that would work well. I swear I saw tons of dressers that would have been perfect... UNTIL I started looking for one! I scoured yard sale sites, thrift stores, and even CraigsList. All of the dressers were either too small, wrong types of drawers, too expensive, etc.
Then, I got a text in the middle of the day from my husband who saw the perfect dresser at a random yard sale! Even better, it was only $40!
Well, we got the dresser home and once we started inspecting it, we discovered it was from Haverty's and it was in really good shape! Some of the hardware was missing, but I planned on removing a row of drawers anyway.
I took all of the drawers out and scrubbed it inside and out. We removed the hardware and spray painted them Oil Rubbed Bronze.
We used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in old white and put two coats on the dresser and drawers. We then rubbed it down with finishing wax.
While I was painting, Shane created a bottom layer to go where the top drawers would usually be for our DVD and satellite box would normally go and he drilled a hole out of the back for the wires to go through.
